When you are preparing to sell your marital home, there may be repairs that need to be made to the home. A home inspection can help you determine what repairs will be necessary.  A home inspection may still be helpful even if you intend to remain in the marital residence, and possibly buy your ex out of the house, it might be a good idea for you to have an inspection to assure there are no significant repair issues prior to you sealing the deal. For example, you do not want to buy out your ex, without having a home inspection, only to find out that the roof needs to be repaired. Without the home inspection, you might end up paying your ex too much money because significant repairs need to be made.
